About Productivity Step Change
We Engage LLC (DBA Productivity Step Change), was founded in 2010 in the United States by Bill James. The company is based in Los Angeles California.
After hundreds of successful transition programs over 3 decades in Europe, the Americas and the Asia Pacific region, Bill has fine-tuned a consulting offering which results in real and rapid improvement of Return on Invested Capital (ROIC).
Often, consultants engage only the top tenth of a client’s organizational structure. Their approach may be aimed at securing their client’s decision to commence a consulting program rather than delivery of real results. In execution, this focus usually manifests as a ‘top down’ approach where little thought has been given to engaging the real ‘change-makers’.
We place a significant portion of our fees at risk and we prefer to stand at the back of the room while our clients run their business from the front of the room. We spend 90% of our time in operational job space.
We focus on defining the operational performance improvement required to underpin financial improvement goals. We establish a clear line of sight between corporate, functional and job-based performance goals (current and future state). We demonstrate the viability of the future state before execution.
Our programs target both sides of the ROIC equation, both Operating Income and Asset Utilization (Working Capital and Property Plant and Equipment).
Bill’s client portfolio includes banking & finance, mining, manufacturing, transport & logistics, food processing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and retail/distribution. Previous projects include companies like Alcoa, Bunge Inc., Sonoco Products, Deutsche Bank, Barclay’s Bank, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, General Motors, Sumitomo Corporation and Newcrest Mining.
